The Generations Crew Gets Artsy as Rich One of NASA Crew shares his art and host's art workshop

On Monday July 23rd, we had the very talented artist Rich One, of NASA Crew and Creative Recreation fame, come out to talk art and host an art contest.

After a quick slideshow to highlight some of his artwork, which fuses caricature art with a graffiti art style, Rich One provided students with a black and white outline of a piece of his work. The students were instructed to throw their own flair onto the existing work by splashing it with color and making it their own.

This project was a big hit with many of the students because it allowed them to take a work of art that was already in place and make it their own. Since some students have a tough time getting started from scratch, this project gave many aspiring artists a solid base from which to dive right in and get creative.

By the time the contest started wrapping up, there were far too many quality pieces to even make narrowing it down to three an easy decision....

After careful consideration, Rich was able to choose the top three, shown below with their work. These aspiring artists got themselves some bragging rights and a nice prize pack.

We would like to give a big shout out to all those who participated, and especially to Rich One for taking the time out of his busy schedule to come out and share his story and love for art with Fullerton's youth
